LOCAL psychedelic drone peddlers 3D Tanx finally release their eagerly anticipated debut for mass aural consumption. This eight track compendium of space-rock, astral ambience and gutsy electronica doesn't half hoof the ball about a bit but it manages to somehow always slug it slid into the back of the net. A
zillion light-years away from the multitude standard-hearing rock bands
that are proliferous the local live music scene, 3D Tanx give monotony
an oxymoronic depth and texture which is hard ignore and for this
listener, even harder to find fault with. There are hints of Super Furry Animals, The Fall and a multitude of influences spanning a good forty years of popular and not-so popular music. Personal favourites include Baby Universe, a blatantly a utterly unoriginal yet stupendously delicious sitar driven whine. 3D Tanx live performances are a treat; unpredictable yet always rewarding. A top night out, if you like that kind of thing. See them live at Manchester's Scubar tomorn night (Sat) or catch them in Lancaster at the end the month. Tanx and How to Draw Them is out on Monday (19) and will be available from Andy's Records priced £5.99. |
