The Citizen 17/10/02

And all that jazz

SWINGING tunes and a chance to keep the future bright for up and coming Lancaster musicians - that's what's on offer at the Gregson Centre on Wednesday night, October 23.

The cream of Lancaster's jazz talent will be raising the rafters in a night of good-time jazz to raise funds for the city's Musician's Co-op. The three band extravaganza will include the sounds of cornet, clarinet, and trombone. Not to mention two singers, two piano players, two guitarists, and a brace of bass players. Plus a banjo player - and a couple of drummers.

They won't all be playing at once though - so there will be enough room for the audience!

The fun and fund- raising evening includes something for everyone, with a range of jazz styles from traditional to mainstream and modern. There will be toe-tapping, heart-warming music from the New Riverside Jazz Band, the Bob Moffatt Quartet and the Sue Parish Allstars. The event  has  been arranged to raise funds for the Music Co-op, which offers rehearsal and recording space for amateur and professional musicians of all ages. Tickets for the event, which starts at 8prn, are available on the door on the night.
