Rock gig pays dividends! A
PACKED Yorkshire House rocked at the weekend as the spirit of solidarity
saw people united in appreciation and support of Lancaster's Musician's
Co-op. The
fundraising weekender organised by Angelica saw local bands join forces
to put on a showcase of musical talent that raised more than £1,100. "It
was an absolutely brilliant weekend. You could sense the camaraderie and
spirit of community," said one of the organisers, Brigit Colton. "It
all ran smoothly, all the performers were fantastic and the atmosphere
was electric. I was quite sad when it had to finish on Sunday. It
demonstrated just how much support there is for the Musician's Co-op.
Hopefully we'll have more weekends like this in the near future." The
event was filmed and it will be used in a documentary about the Co-op,
which has gone into production. "I've
seen some of the footage and it's brilliant," added Brigit.
"Everyone is determined to save the Co-op and, until it's future is
secured, we will not back off." "I'd
like to thank Mike at the Yorkshire House, Dean who compered the event
and had us in stitches and all the bands who played storming sets.
Special mention goes out to everybody who lent a hand." There will be a meeting to discuss the future of the canal corridor area, which includes the Co-op, at Lancaster's St Thomas' Church on Thursday, September 26, at 7.30pm. And a demonstration has been organised in Dalton Square on Friday, September 27, at 4.30pm. List
