We
must keep this vital platform
Musicians'
Co-op workers David Blackwell, Tom Myall, and lan Dicken in the studio.
Supporters have rallied to the defence of the co-op. I
WOULD like to add my voice to the objections raised about the proposed
developments for the Brewery land that include the Lancaster Musicians'
Co-Operative. I
used the facilities there for many years and it would be a great shame
if it were to go. In
fact I'm thinking of returning to my native Lancaster precisely because
of the facilities which the Co-op offers which are rare to find in other
towns in Britain. With very little input from outside sources, the Co-op
and the musicians who use it have built up a vibrant music scene over
the years, as l'n sure your aware. This
needs encouragement as it is the grass roots activities of the local
community that need nurturing rather than a cultural centre to be bought
in and foisted on the citizens of Lancaster. The
Co-op provides a vital platform for the voice of the people of
Lancaster. Keep it! Richard Chamberlain |
