Co-op meeting

A PUBLIC meeting has been called to discuss proposals for the Lancaster Canal corridor north area, implications for local business organisations and the Musicians' Co-op.

Lancaster  MP Hilton Dawson has organised the meeting for 7.30pm  on Thursday, September 26th at St Thomas' Church in Lancaster.

A Co-op representative and Bulk ward councillor lan Barker will speak at the meeting. Hilton said: "Hopefully, the public meeting will assist with a massive public campaign to ensure the future of Lancaster Musicians Co-op and to promote a use of this whole site in the best interests of the community"

He said he was in favour of serious plans to regenerate the location but said the city should be looking to support the development of cultural amenities rather than destroying them.

He added: We have lost one nice pub recently due to a lack of imagination and leadership on the part of the city council and there's no chance that people are going to allow one of the city's best assets to be squandered in the same way."
