LANCASTER'S
all-girl rock group Angelica have joined forces with other local bands
to organise a gig for the Musicians co-op. Angelica,
who have enjoyed national recognition during their eight year career and
featured on Radio 1, are just one of the many local bands who started
off at the Co-op. "The
Co-op means so much to us," said Brigit from Angelica, 'lt serves a
large number of people. It is ideally placed for easy access, cheap,
clean, safe and more importantly it's the backbone of Lancaster's music
scene. Holly added: 'If it wasn't for the Co-op we wouldn't have enjoyed
the national success that we have had. Our first single was recorded at
the Co-op and it was that recording that put us on the map Without the
Co- op we simply couldn't have started the band off. We had no where to
rehearse or store our equipment." The
three-day festival of locally produced music will he held at the
Yorkshire House on September 13, 14 and 15. Friday
night will be rock, metal and gothic, Saturday night will feature a
number of bands including Angelica and on Sunday evening there will be acoustic
sets, jazz, lounge music and comedy. Single tickets are £3 or you can
buy a ticket for all three nights priced just £8 Other
acts lined up to play so far include Seraphim, 3D Tanx, Puma Sutras, Mob
Curious, Beef Sharkey, the Shady Jazz Trio and Little Hero. More acts
have been lined up and there will also be a raffle with a prize worth
winning! All proceeds will go towards the Co-op. For more details contact Rachel on 07931 259617. |
